York is one of the Premier tracks in Europe having recently won Flat Racecourse of the Year Award and also came out top in The Times Newspaper survey of all Britain's racecourses.
World class racing meets high society for the Ebor Festival, the jewel in the crown of York Racecourse. The course, known as the Knavesmire, has been a favourite amongst racegoers since it was founded in 1731.
Staged in late August, The Ebor plays host to some of the most prestigious races in the calendar and features a combination of the very best horses with a sense of tradition and style. The opening day sees the richest and best race of the year with the Group I Juddmonte International. Tradition features strongly in the Totesport Ebor handicap, one of the most famous races of the festival and first run in 1843, whilst the day of style is Ladies Day on Thursday. racecourses
